Well, the lens our surgeons have been waiting YEARS for is finally FDA approved! Yes, it’s true, the Tecnis Symfony IOL is now available here in the states.
The Tecnis Symfony is the first and only presbyopia-correcting extended range of focus lens, and allows for a continuous, full range of high-quality vision. You read it right folks—
distance, intermediate, and near vision after cataract surgery, with limited “cheater” use for extended reading. The lens is also in a version that corrects astigmatism. So, no longer will you have to sign up for PRK AND cataract surgery if you have astigmatism… it’s all available in one lens. And, because of the new lens characteristics, glare and halos at night are at a minimum.
Drs. Relf and Graham are excited to have this lens option to offer to patients.

In other news, if anyone is a sports fan they may have seen the boxing match between Golovkin and Brook a couple weeks ago. Brook’s corner stopped the fight, with the announcers wondering why. At post fight exam a CT was done that showed an orbital fracture. Had the fight continued his life would’ve been in danger. A valuable lesson, whether hit in the face with a fist or just trip over a shoe, if you fall and hit your eye get your eye checked!!
